Challenger Team Seeks Players & Buddies

UpdatedFriday May 17, 2019 bySLL.

Several years ago Smithfield Little League developed a Challenger program for children with special needs. This team enables boys and girls with physical and mental challenges to enjoy the game of baseball. There is no fee for any child to play on this team.

The team practices baseball skills and plays intrasquad games and against other teams throughout Rhode Island. Children on our team play at their own level.

High school students assist each player at every game and practice as a “Buddy.” We are always looking for high school students to volunteer to support the Challenger program. (Each is provided a signed letter that documents their volunteer hours of participation.)

If you know a Smithfield child that would like to play - or if you are interested in helping out as a Buddy - please contact Ralph Boudreau, Manager Smithfield Little League Challenger team at
