SLL Reponse to the Coronavirus Pandemic

UpdatedThursday March 12, 2020 byMichael Guilfoyle.

Dear Smithfield Little League Families:

The Smithfield Little League Board of Directors has closely monitored the COVID-19, coronavirus situation. Know that as we have followed the international, national and statewide developments of this global pandemic, the safety and health of players and volunteers have been the criteria by which we have evaluated this rapidly evolving matter.

While majors practices were scheduled to begin this evening, on the recommendation of Rhode Island District 4 Little League, the Board has decided to temporarily suspend all Little League activity. The Board collectively agrees that this is a prudent response to an unprecedented global pandemic as we seek to promote the health and safety of the Smithfield Little League community. Know that the Board will make a decision this weekend on the suspension of the majors practices.

Know that the draft process for the remaining divisions will continue as we prepare for an exciting 2020 season.

We thank you in advance for your patience and understanding during these unprecedented times and know that we will keep you apprised of this situation.

Sincerely,
Michael Guilfoyle
Smithfield Little League
President
