Play Ball! 2021 Registration Now Open!

UpdatedFriday January 29, 2021 bySLL.

Registration for the 2021 Smithfield Little League season is now open!

According to Little League International, 80 percent of Little Leagues in the country did not play baseball last summer. Thanks to your compliance with the safety protocols, Smithfield Little League was one of only 20 percent of local leagues to provide kids a baseball experience and more importantly, a distraction from the disruptions of last year. The SLL Safety Protocols that successfully and safely guided the league through the 2020 summer and fall seasons will remain in effect until public health officials deem they are no longer necessary. The league will host a safety briefing for families via Zoom mid-March.

Please read this message in its
entirety before you register.

Discounted Registration Fee
Understanding the many challenges families are facing due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, the Board voted to discount this year’s registration fee by 25 percent. The fees for this year are $75 plus $30 for the calendar raffle; $37.50 plus $30 for the calendar raffle for the Blast Ball Division. (Know that you may sell your calendar raffle to recoup the $30.)

Fee Waivers
If a family is facing financial difficulty, the league offers scholarships. The league is committed to providing all Smithfield kids a baseball experiencing, regardless of the family’s financial situation. Contact Mike in confidence to inquire about a fee waiver.

Last Year’s Fees
Many families opted to donate their 2020 fee to the league. We are grateful for your generous support that enabled the league to provide Smithfield kids the opportunity to safely play baseball last year. Others opted to apply last year’s fee to this year. If you opted to apply the 2020 fee to the 2021 fee, the league sent to you a code, but as shared last year, you must still pay the $30 calendar raffle fee. If you did not complete the Google form to indicate your intention with regard to the 2020 fee, the fee was recorded as a donation to the league.

If you wish, there is also an option to support the league’s Scholarship Fund in the registration process.

Starting the Season
Pending the public health situation at the time and state guidelines, practices will tentatively start in early April with games scheduled to start towards the end of April. Due to the gathering guidelines, it is likely that we will have to forego the Opening Day ceremonies.

Thank you for your support and trust in the league to provide your son or daughter a rewarding – and safe – baseball experience. We look forward to seeing everyone back on the fields this spring. Until then, stay safe and healthy.
