UpdatedWednesday July 1, 2015 bySLL.

Field conditions are not yet suitable for Little League baseball due to repeated snowstorms of the past winter. After discussions with the town of Smithfield, Smithfield Little League has rescheduled Opening Day to Saturday, May 2 at Whipple. Team and individual photos are scheduled for Saturday, May 16 at a location to be determined.

The League will continue to use Gallagher Middle School, when available, for practices.Teams are reminded that the use of all fields and grassy areas on town or school property is strictly prohibited.

The League is creating a new game schedule to accommodate the delayed start of the season, which will be announced once the fields are ready for use. Majors games are expected to begin April 18; other Divisions will begin playing games and practicing on fields shortly thereafter.

All managers and coaches must attend a meeting this Thursday, April 9, 8 p.m. at the Portuguese American Club. Important information about Division rules and other news will be shared.
